See you on Friday.

Shoulder update

Post by Mason
Mason Powell

Hey, all, just an update about the shoulder. Had an MRI done and the doc found torn cartilage and ligaments. I’m going to be down for about another week but I can start slowly building my strength playing after that. No surgery yet, we’ll see how this pans out in a few weeks.
Also, be sure and watch the calendar for Aaron’s acoustic shows. February 20th Aaron and Trevor Burgess will be playing a song swap at Bobby T’s. Be sure and make it out to that, it’ll be a good time.

Until next time,

Mason

Show update

Post by Mason
Mason Powell

Hi, all, just popping in to give everyone the skinny on our shows and other topics. I recently just had to cancel our show at the Granada in Lawrence. I have done myself in this time by dislocating my shoulder (really badly). I have an appointment with the surgeon on Feb. 10th so we’ll see what happens after that. Until then I’m not really supposed to use it much. I’m still considering playing the show on Saturday in Manhattan but I’ve got to wait and see how I feel by then.  Send me some good vibes because I could use them.

On a better note, I have some video from a Ween tribute night that we recently played. Video turned out to be pretty good. Maybe I can talk Aaron into posting a couple of clips on the website, we’ll see.

Well, I’m going to work on getting healed up as soon as I can so that we can get back to booking shows.

Cheers,

Mason

Code Monkey from Manhattan, Kansas

It’s rare that we make available recordings of cover songs. Sure, we play them, but we’re usually not very proud of it. Here’s a delightful song that we actually enjoy playing. It’s written by a guy named Jonathan Coulton called Code Monkey. You may recognize it as the theme song to the TV series Code Monkies. Our performance is from our Bobby T’s show from last August. If you like the song, you’d be doing yourself a favor by find more Coulton on YouTube.

Mason’s Playlist 11/20/09

Post by Mason

Got a new selection today. I just got the album yesterday and you can get it (most of it) for free on last.fm. It’s a great listen. These guys are keeping the desert rock scene alive with their heavy riffs and driving drums, they are also from Stockholm, Sweden.

Ponamero Sundown

Enjoy!

Hey, all, stopping in again to give you a taste of what I’m listening to. I recently found these guys and really took a liking to them. They are the Band of Heathens out of Austin, Texas. Word has it that these guys got together at an open mic night and eventually decided that they should start a band. Anyway, really digging what they have to offer so check them out. This is their latest offering from Blue Rose Records:

Band of Heathens

Enjoy!
